The museum is administered by the Supreme Court of Queensland Library under the auspices of the Supreme Court History and Publications Program. Gibbs served as a judge on the Supreme Court of Queensland from 8 June 1961 until 24 June 1967. He was the first law graduate of the University of Queensland to join that Court.
