The City of Shreveport has issued its own statement regarding the use of the Louisiana Boardwalk as a "park and ride" location during this weekend's Humor & Harmony Festival.
In May 2005, the Louisiana Boardwalk, a 550,000-square-foot (51,000 m 2) shopping and entertainment complex, opened in Bossier City across from Shreveport's downtown. It features outlet shopping, several restaurants, a 14‑screen movie theater, a bowling complex, and Bass Pro Shops .
In a press release, the city said, "Though Bossier City wishes the festival to be a success the Boardwalk will not be used as a location for a shuttle for this event."
The Louisiana Holiday Trail of Lights is eight cities in north Louisiana (Shreveport, Bossier City, Minden, Monroe, West Monroe, Natchitoches and Alexandria, Pineville) [1] that collectively offer festivals, parades, fireworks shows, shopping and dining in each of the cities starting the day after Thanksgiving through the New Year.
Around 1907, Cane City was incorporated by Louisiana Governor Newton C. Blanchard; the village was renamed as Bossier City. Blanchard appointed Ewald Max Hoyer, a Shreveport businessman, as the first Bossier City mayor. By that time, Bossier City had grown from an area around a square mile to a city containing more than 35 sq mi (91 km 2).
