Barbara Jordan Career Center, formerly Barbara Jordan High School for Careers, is a public vocational school center at 5800 Eastex Freeway (U.S. Highway 59) in Houston, Texas, United States. It is a part of the Houston Independent School District. Prior to July 1, 2018, the school served as its own self-contained secondary school.
In 1935, Central High School was renamed after longtime principal R.L. Paschal, who retired that year after 29 years of service. R.L. Paschal High School still exists in the Fort Worth Independent School District, but it relocated in 1955 to the corner of Berry Street and Forest Park Boulevard, near Texas Christian University.
In 2008, Health Careers was recognized as a "2008 Just for Kids Higher Performing Schools in Texas" [9] In 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012, HCHS was listed as the top High School in San Antonio by Children at Risk. [10] HCHS was also listed as an Honor School by the Texas Business & Education Coalition [11] for 2006.

This school is one of twelve schools in the San Antonio Independent School District. During 2022–2023, Fox Tech High School had an enrollment of 499 students and a student to teacher ratio of 17.36. Lawmakers extended STISD’s purpose in 1983 to encourage the operation of vocational magnet schools. Soon after, South Texas High School for Health Professions (Med High) opened in Mercedes in 1984. It was followed by The Science Academy of South Texas (Sci Tech), also in Mercedes, in 1989.
