To create columns in an article one may use {} and {}. Note that this is not supported by Internet Explorer version 9 and below or Opera version 11 and below — see {{ Div col }} for details. To illustrate the use of these templates, this example uses the {{ lorem }} template to generate Lorem ipsum placeholder text.
In this example, the scope attribute defines what the headers describe, column or row, which screen readers use. You can add a table using HTML rather than wiki markup, as described at HTML element#Tables. However, HTML tables are discouraged because wikitables are easier to customize and maintain, as described at manual of style on tables.
The MediaWiki software uses any of them for a single forced line break. All of them are converted to <br /> in the HTML that browsers read. MediaWiki also converts </br> to <br />, but this form is invalid. Please correct these tags. For content that is semantically a list, such as in infoboxes, actual list markup is preferred. A page can be defined to have multiple columns. When this is the case, blocks flow from one column into the next by default. In web design, columns are often used to separate primary content from secondary and tertiary content. For example, a common two column layout may include a left column with navigation links, and a right column for body text. One method of creating columns for the web is to place text within an HTML table element, often with the border set to ...
Looking down the column, the software finds the first non-blank cell and assumes that everything else in the column is in the same format. But a number of things can go wrong: Mixed types of data in a column don't sort right. For example, in a column that's for calendar dates, don't put "Unknown" where a date isn't known. Just leave the cell blank.
