Hanscom Air Force Base (AFB) is a United States Air Force base located predominantly within Bedford, Massachusetts, with portions extending into the adjoining towns of Lincoln, Concord and Lexington. [1] The facility is adjacent to Hanscom Field which provides general aviation and charter service.

In 1930, Old Colony Airways and Muller Field were acquired by Beacon Air Service, a company owned by John and Walter O'Toole. [3] In 1937 the name was changed to Riverside Field, however it was still referred to in many publications as Muller Field. [1] In 1939, Muller Field was in consideration to be the site of Massachusetts' first state airport.
