Glenn W. Schwartz (March 20, 1940 – November 2, 2018) [1] was an American guitarist who first came to the attention of rock music audiences as the original guitar player of the James Gang, based in Cleveland, Ohio.
Thornel Schwartz Jr., or Thornal Schwartz Jr. (May 29, 1927 in Philadelphia – December 30, 1977 in Philadelphia) was an American jazz guitarist. He played electric guitar on the recordings of many Philadelphia jazz musicians, especially electronic organ players.
Flophouse magazine noted: "A proficient blues player who talks the bop language without really, like better guitar players, stretching long lines over the familiar changes, Schwartz accompanies his short clusters of prickly, staccato notes with driving octave playing.
As of May 2004, Glenn Schwartz was playing guitar and singing Thursday nights at "Major Hooples" in the Flats, Cleveland. And as of 2014, Schwartz continued to perform at the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland. Schwartz died on November 3, 2018, at the age of 77. Before the end of 1966, Glenn Schwartz had taken over lead guitar duties. [1] The next summer, Silverman left to join the army and was replaced in the group by Bill Jeric. [2] At the end of 1967, Schwartz left to relocate to Los Angeles, California where he formed Pacific Gas & Electric. [3] Schwartz was replaced in the new year by Joe Walsh. [4]
The band features Zack Schwartz, formerly of the band Glocca Morra. Their debut self-titled album was released in 2014. [2] An EP entitled You Are Arrived (But You've Been Cheated) was released in 2015. [3] In 2017, the band released their second album, Pleasure Suck, on Tiny Engines.
