Wikipedia has categories of articles; for example, "Phrases". Adding the wikitext [[Category:Phrases]] to an article will add that article to the category "Phrases". (This will not create any visible addition to the body text of the article.) If you instead want to create a visible link to a category, add a colon in front of the word "Category".
A piped link is an internal link or interwiki link where the link target and link label are both specified. This is needed in the case that they are not equal, while also the link label is not equal to the link target with the last word extended: [[cheese]] (label = target, no pipe needed) produces cheese, linked to the article Cheese.
A useful expansion of this is done by separating what you want linked, from what you want displayed, with a pipe character ("|"), to create a "piped link". Thus: [[Wikipedia|encyclopedia]] produces encyclopedia , with the displayed text linking to the article, Wikipedia .
