Wage Rudolf Soepratman (Wage Soepratman in the old orthography, commonly known as W. R. Supratman; 9 March 1903 – 17 August 1938) was an Indonesian journalist and songwriter who wrote both the lyrics and melody of the national anthem of Indonesia, "Indonesia Raya". He is an Indonesian national hero.
This was followed by two more original songs including "Mekar Hari Raya", the second track from the album, composed by Azmeer, with lyrics by Senibayan. "Meriah Suasana Hari Raya", the third single, is another typical raya song by composer Khir Rahman and lyricist Hairul Anuar Harun.

After the death of four students in the 1998 Trisakti shootings, the media used the lyrics gugur satu, tumbuh seribu as a slogan for the reformation movement and to indicate that the students had not died in vain. Today the line gugur satu, tumbuh seribu has entered common usage, with the meaning of "One falls, a thousand arise". [2]
