Mount Holly Springs is located in south-central Cumberland County at (40.116063, -77.186751), [4] at the northern foot of the South Mountain Mountain Creek runs through the center of the borough, exiting the mountains via a water gap between Mount Holly to the west and Keller Hill to the east.
The route crosses South Mountain into Cumberland County and reaches Mount Holly Springs, where it intersects PA 94. PA 34 heads north into the agricultural Cumberland Valley and heads north to Carlisle , where it has an interchange with Interstate 81 (I-81) in the southern part of town and intersects US 11/ PA 74 / PA 641 in the downtown area.
PA 94 was designated in 1928 to run from MD 30 at the Maryland border southeast of Hanover north-northwest to PA 34 in Mount Holly Springs, following its current alignment. Upon designation, the entire length of the route was paved. [10] [11] The portion of PA 94 in central Hanover was widened in the 1940s. [12]

The Mount Holly Historic District is a 260-acre (110 ha) historic district encompassing downtown Mount Holly. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on February 20, 1973, for its significance in architecture, education, landscape architecture, politics/government, and transportation.
