Digital Signal 1 (DS1, sometimes DS-1) is a T-carrier signaling scheme devised by Bell Labs. [1] DS1 is the primary digital telephone standard used in the United States , Canada and Japan and is able to transmit up to 24 multiplexed voice and data calls over telephone lines.
Digital Subscriber Signalling System No. 1 (DSS1) is a digital signalling protocol (D channel protocol) used for the ISDN. It is defined by ITU-T I.411 (ETS 300 102 [ 1 ] ). It supports Bearer Capability , Low Level Compatibility and High Level Compatibility, ANI, DNIS and redirected number signaling in both directions.
