Barre (/ ˈ b ær i / BARR-ee) is the most populous city in Washington County, Vermont, United States.As of the 2020 census, the municipal population was 8,491. [3] Popularly referred to as "Barre City", it is almost completely surrounded by "Barre Town", which is a separate municipality.
Barre Town has its own public school, Barre Town Middle and Elementary School, which hosts students from pre-school through grade eight. The public high school is Spaulding High School and is located in Barre City. Also located in Barre Town are the Websterville Christian Academy [17] and the Montessori School of Central Vermont. [18]
