Lakdasa Wikkramasinha (Sinhala: ලක්දාස වික්රමසිංහ, 1941–1978) was a Sri Lankan poet who wrote in English and Sinhala, [1] and is known for his fusion of the two languages. [2]
These were followed in 1952 by 2, 5, 50 and 100 rupee notes. The 1 rupee notes were replaced by coins in 1963. From 1977, banknotes were issued by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. 20 rupees notes were introduced in 1979, followed by 500 and 1000 rupees in 1981, 200 rupees in 1998 and 2000 rupees in 2006.
He wrote about the film Hamlet under the title 'Sinhala Chithrapati Karayinta Adarsha Padamak ('An Exemplary Lesson for Sinhala Filmmakers'). In 1950, he also wrote the column 'Sinhalese Films' for the Sunday Observer about Sinhala films of that year. This is the first annual review of Sinhala films in Sri Lanka written in English. [2]

None of Sinhala novels of that period had been as successful as Jayatissa and Rosalyn. Piyadasa Sirisena also was the first novelist in the country to produce detective stories. He wrote five of detective novels and one of them "Dingiri Menika" was made into a highly successful film in the mid 1950s . [ 6 ]
