Roundup is located in west-central Musselshell County. U.S. Routes 12 and 87 pass through the city. US 12 leads east 102 miles (164 km) to Forsyth and west 69 miles (111 km) to Harlowton, while US 87 leads northwest 75 miles (121 km) to Lewistown and south 49 miles (79 km) to Billings.
Kilby Butte Colony is a Hutterite community [4] and census-designated place (CDP) in Musselshell County, Montana, United States. It is in the center of the county, on the south side of U.S. Route 12, 9 miles (14 km) east of Roundup, the county seat. It is on the north side of the Musselshell River, an east-flowing tributary of the Missouri River.
Nelson Reservoir is a reservoir located in Phillips County, Montana, northeast of Malta and northwest of Saco, Montana, created by damming the Milk River, a tributary of the Missouri River. It is stocked annually with 100,000 walleye [1] as well as yellow perch and northern pike. There is both warm-weather and ice fishing. [2]
Musselshell County was created in 1911 by Montana Governor Edwin L. Norris.The area was taken from Fergus, Yellowstone, and Meagher counties. It was named for the Musselshell River which runs southwest–northeast through the county.
