Bixby Bridge, also known as Bixby Creek Bridge, on the Big Sur coast of California, is one of the most photographed bridges in California due to its aesthetic design, "graceful architecture and magnificent setting". [3] [4] It is a reinforced concrete open-spandrel arch bridge.
It is carved into the cliffs that rise from the Pacific, and is breathtaking (and scary at certain points). Chris took this shot just as the morning fog was receding back out onto the Pacific. This bridge is spectacular and scary every time I drive it. Coming from both directions on CA Hwy 1 (one of the five most beautiful drives in America), you don't see the bridge until you are upon it, and then it is a thrill.
