The PBS Kids Writers Contest is an annual art and literature competition for students grades kindergarten to 12 in the United States. The competition was relaunched under the name PBS Kids Go! Writers Contest in 2009 as a continuation from its predecessor called Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest [ 1 ] which was started in 1995.
Paper 2. Reading and Writing (30 minutes) The Reading and Writing paper has six sections and 40 questions in total. Each part begins with one or two examples. Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters is a children's picture book published in 1987 by John Steptoe. The book won many awards for Steptoe's illustrations, and went on to be adapted into many different children's literature curricula. In the late 1980s, Weston Woods made a version of the book, narrated by Terry Alexander.
The writing sample section is 25 minutes long and is not scored. However, the writing sample is sent to school admission officers along with the scores of the other sections of the test. In the elementary level SSAT, the writing sample gives students an opportunity to express themselves in response to a picture prompt.
