Kuchipudi (/ ˌ k uː tʃ ɪ ˈ p uː d i / KOO-chih-POO-dee) is one of the eight major Indian classical dances. [2] It originates from a village named Kuchipudi in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. [3] Kuchipudi is a dance-drama performance, with its roots in the ancient Hindu Sanskrit text of Natya Shastra.

In 2010 the duo were conferred honorary doctorates by the University of Hyderabad for their contributions to Kuchipudi. [2] Raja Reddy is married to Radha and her sister Kaushalya, also a Kuchipudi dancer. [7] [8] Raja Radha Reddy and Kaushalya have two children Yamini and Bhavana Reddy, also Kuchipudi dancers. [8]
Shambhavi Dance Theatre produced a dance DVD, The Magic of Kuchipudi that features Prateeksha Kashi. The DVD was released by Yamini Krishnamurthy as a part of "Nayika-Excellence Personified," which was organised on the occasion of Woman's Day on 8 March 2014 in Bharathiya Vidhya Bhavan, Bangalore. Chinna Satyam sublimated and systematised Indian Kuchipudi dance, giving it a more classical basis. He refined the art form, bringing it closer to the standards of Natya Shastra and introduced new elements, e.g. chari (leg movements) of Natya Shastra that are significantly different from the interpretations of other dance authorities, such as Padma Subrahmanyam.
Sandhya Raju has been performing Kuchipudi ever since she was a teenager. Her first performance was a small role in her Guru's Popular Dance Drama Ksheera Saagara Madhanam, which was staged in Rajapalayam, Tamil Nadu. She continued to perform small roles in several of Vempati Chinna Satyam’s dance dramas. [16]
Manasa is acknowledged as leading young exponent of Kuchipudi – the classical dance form of India that has its cultural roots in ancient history. [14] Her dance journey began at age six under the guidance of Guru Smt Madhu Nirmala, who had taught some basic steps and later Guru Sri Narasayya. Her debut live performance was at the age of six.
