Lincoln County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. As of the 2020 census, the population was 34,907. [1] Its county seat is Brookhaven. [2] The county was created by the legislature on April 7, 1870, during the Reconstruction Era. It was formed from portions of Lawrence, Pike, Franklin, Copiah, and Amite counties.

A state maintained gravel road had existed connecting Union Church and Brookhaven since at least 1928. [3] Some improvements were made to the road from this time to 1950 when it had formally received the MS 550 designation. [4] [5] By 1953, the entire route had been fully asphalt paved. [6] [7]
