Karen "Kaz" Proctor is a main character in the television series Wentworth. Kaz is introduced as one of Bea's supporters and is in a vigilante group called The Red Right Hand. Kaz is portrayed by Tammy MacIntosh. Kaz's main storylines have centred on her idolizing of Bea Smith and being a vigilante against men who abuse women.
She appears to be Kaz's right-hand woman following Mel Barrett's disappearance. In "Ascension" she accuses Marie of having killed Kaz, and attempts to murder her, before being stopped by Allie. Alston is sent back to the slot after she attacks Marie when she comes out of the protection unit following the closure.
The prisoners and staff mourn the loss of their "Top Dog" Kaz, while the hunt is on for the person who murdered her. Tensions remain very high as the investigation into the death stirs up emotions for everyone. Liz, who is suffering from dementia, initially believes that she killed Kaz in a fit of madness but is cleared.
During series seven Kaz dies in the fourth episode of season 7 in a horrific killing. Macintosh would join several of her co-stars from Wentworth during 2022 and appeared at both a Screen Star Event in London and Birmingham and would also appear at the Wentworth Con fan convention in Melbourne. Macintosh appears regularly at these fan conventions.
