Hardeman County (/ ˈ h ɑːr d ɪ m ən / HAR-di-mən) is a county located in the U.S. state of Texas.As of the 2020 census, its population was 3,549. [1] The county seat and largest city is Quanah. [2]
Cynthia Ann Parker, Naduah, Narua, or Preloch [7] (Comanche: Na'ura, IPA:, lit. ' Was found '; [8] October 28, 1827 [nb 1] – March 1871), [1] was a woman who was captured, aged around nine, by a Comanche band during the Fort Parker massacre in 1836, where several of her relatives were killed.
In 1898, Koch married Margaret (Mattie) Mixson (1874–1941). She was the daughter of Hester (née Blessingame) and John Baptist Mixson (1851–1927) of Quanah, Texas (he was the son of Simeon Mixson and Margaret Campbell). [6]
Quanah High School is a public high school located in the city of Quanah, Texas and classified as a 2A school by the UIL. It is part of the Quanah Independent School District located in central Hardeman County. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency. [2]
