On 3 February 1965 he married Caroline Harrison, daughter of Cholmeley Dering Cholmeley-Harrison and Barbara Mary Corisande Bellew, with whom he had three sons (two by birth and one by adoption) Hon. Anthony Mackay (born 1967) Hon. Shane Mackay (born 1973) Hon. Ivan Mackay (born 1976), owner of the Brux estate, Aberdeenshire.
The Maxwell House Hotel was a major hotel in downtown Nashville. Because of its stature, seven US Presidents and other prominent guests stayed there over the years. It was built by Colonel John Overton Jr. and named for his wife, Harriet (Maxwell) Overton. The architect was Isaiah Rogers. [1]
From 1908 to 1982, the hotel belonged to Jack and Mary Evans Bobo, who ran it as a boarding house. [2] The husband died in 1948, and the wife became the sole proprietor. [ 3 ] One of her tenants was Tom Motlow, whose uncle was the eponymous founder of Jack Daniel's , the whiskey distillery. [ 2 ]
Points of interest in the area include the Bellew Estate and woodlands, the man-made pleasure lake, the old forge, the malt house (which now lends its name to a restaurant) and St Mary's Catholic church. The Bellew Estate was once the home of the Grattan-Bellew family, who were Galway parliamentarians during the 18th and 19th centuries. [5]
He died in 1715 and was buried at St. Mary's Abbey, Duleek. [1] In July 1695, he married Lady Frances Brudenell, daughter of Francis Brudenell, Lord Brudenell and the widow of Charles Livingston, 2nd Earl of Newburgh. Upon Bellew's death, his title was inherited by his son, John. [1] Bellew's daughter, Dorothea, married Gustavus Hamilton.
