The boundaries of the district were redrawn from 2020, determined by the 2020 redistricting cycle. The 4th district (formerly the 5th) was drawn to be much more conservative than on the previous map, losing Tallahassee and some competitive parts of Duval county and gaining the counties of Nassau and Clay.
