St. Armands Key is an island in Sarasota Bay off the west coast of Florida in the United States. It is part of the city of Sarasota, Florida. The island is connected to the mainland by the John Ringling Causeway.
The island features numerous sandy beaches facing the Gulf of Mexico, as well as a park called "South Lido Park", which has a beach and a woodland trail. [1] The island is well developed with a wide variety of luxury hotels and beach houses, and has a seasonal nightclub scene.
Sunset Key is a 27-acre (11-hectare) residential neighborhood and resort island in the city of Key West, Florida. It is located about 500 yards (460 m) off the coast of the island of Key West. The island is privately held among its residents. The island is accessible only by a shuttle boat that runs from the Margaritaville Marina out to the island.
The 65-foot-tall (20 m) bridge, built in 2003, is a segmental box girder bridge running from Sarasota to Bird Key. Another short bridge carries the causeway from Bird Key to Coon Key and St. Armand's Key. The causeway is named after John Ringling, one of the founders of the Ringling Brothers Circus and resident of the Sarasota area. [4]
The hotel began construction in March 1926, with a completion date before December 15, 1926 as specified in the contract. An 18-hole golf course would be built next to the hotel as well. Ringling found himself preoccupied with other financial interests, and during that year the Florida land boom began to slow down as well.
