Small and unexplored, the islet referred to as Kepi i Stillos, is mainly visited by locals from the nearby towns of Ksamil and Konispol. Up until 1992, the islet and the cape from which it gets its name were off-limits to civilians and served as restricted military areas.
Some notable bays along the coast include Ftelie, Butrint, Saranda, Kakome, Borsh, Porto Palermo, Spile, Jal and Bristan (Arushë). The main peninsulas are Ksamil, Qefali and Karaburun. Ksamil is a small Costal town located in Southern Albania, near to Sarande. It is easily accesible from Corfu by boat. Created under communism and set up as a state farm in the 1970's originally housing some 2 thousand people who grew olives, lemons, oranges and vines, it has since expanded into a popular beach resort.
