Kepala Batas (UK: / ˌ k ə p ɑː l ɑː b ɑː t ɑː s /, Malay: [kəpala batas]) is a suburb of Seberang Perai and the seat of the Northern Seberang Perai District in the Malaysian state of Penang. It lies about 10 km (6.2 mi) northeast of Butterworth and 15km (9.3 mi) southwest of Sungai Petani.
Betong division is traditionally a home to Iban, Malay and Chinese people. Most Ibans are scattered throughout rural areas of Betong and Saratok.Whilst, Malay people are concentrated at the town and major village areas in Betong (especially at Pusa and Maludam area) and Saratok.
The town is located 82 km away from Sibu, 19.5 km from Tanjung Manis airport, and 28 km from Sarikei. [6] The government of Sarawak started to develop this area in the 1990s because of its strategic location as a protected harbour for timber processing industry.
