Verco, born at Fullarton, South Australia, was a son of James Crabb Verco.Both his parents came from Cornwall, UK.He was educated at the J. L. Young's Adelaide Educational Institution, and after spending a year in the South Australian Railways, intending to become a civil engineer, he decided to take up medicine.
The building was constructed for Dr. William Alfred Verco (4 November 1867 – 29 April 1942), a local physician and property developer and grandson of James Crabb Verco.
