The Main Art Theater was a movie theater located at 118 North Main Street in downtown Royal Oak, Michigan, at the corner of Main Street and 11 Mile Road.Opened on August 7, 1941 by Robert Anthony, it was originally a single-screen theater with 800 seats designed by Dearborn-based architect Bennett & Straight.
There are three set ups available at the theater with a maximum capacity of 1700; general admission, cabaret, and theatre.General admission holds up to 1700 patrons, cabaret holds 782, seating 562 on the main floor and 200 in the mezzanine, and the theatre set up holds 1000, 718 on the floor and 282 in the mezzanine.

MJR Theatres was created in 1980 by Mike Mihalich with the acquisition of Main Theatre (sold in 1997 and now known as the Main Art Theatre) in Royal Oak, Michigan. The name MJR was taken from their original slogan Movies Just Right. During the 1980s and 1990s, the company purchased several theaters and drive-ins in Michigan.
