A previous route numbered FM 2770 was designated on May 2, 1962, from FM 466, 2.7 miles (4.3 km) east of FM 477, south 8.0 miles (12.9 km) to a point 3.5 miles (5.6 km) north of the Gonzales County line. On June 2, 1967, the road was extended to the Gonzales County line. FM 2770 was cancelled on June 15, 1967, and became a portion of FM 1117.
In 1874, the City of Austin granted the Austin City Railroad Company a franchise for a "horse or mule railroad" [3] on Congress Avenue, Pecan Street (since renamed Sixth Street), and 11th Street. Farm to Market Road 1431 (FM 1431) was originally designated in Starr County on July 15, 1949, on a route from FM 755 eastward to La Reforma at the Hidalgo County line. That designation was canceled on November 30, 1949, and the route was combined with FM 1017.
Buda is in northeastern Hays County. It is 15 miles (24 km) southwest of downtown Austin and 65 miles (105 km) northeast of San Antonio on Interstate 35. Just to the north of Buda is Texas State Highway 45, a major toll loop of Austin. Almost immediately north of Buda is the county line bordering Travis County and the Austin city limits.
