The 2022 World Orienteering Championships were held from 26 to 30 June 2022 in the Triangle Region, Denmark. This was the first World Orienteering Championships with only sprint races, and the first to include a knock-out sprint event.
In 2022 the first sprint only WOC was organized in Denmark, and the new competition format Knockout Sprint made its debut. In 2023 , Daniel Hubmann from Switzerland set a record as the oldest orienteer to win a gold medal at the World Championships, at the age of 40 years and 61 days.
The World Ski Orienteering Championships (Ski-WOC) is the official event to award the titles of World Champions in ski orienteering. The World Championships is organized every odd year. The programme includes Sprint, Middle and Long Distance competitions, and a Relay for both men and women. The first Ski-WOC was held in 1975. [1]

The 2023 World Orienteering Championships were held from 11 to 16 July 2023 in Flims/Laax in the Canton of the Grisons (German: Graubünden), Switzerland. [1]The championships consisted of six forest competitions: middle distance, long distance and relay, for women and men, respectively.
