Chestnut Hill East station is a SEPTA Regional Rail station in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Located at 102–04 Bethlehem Pike at Chestnut Hill Avenue, it serves the Chestnut Hill East Line . The current station building was built in 1931 by the Reading Railroad , [ 3 ] as a replacement for an earlier station that existed between 1872 and 1930.

The Chestnut Hill East Branch is a railway line in Pennsylvania. It runs 5.5 miles (8.9 km) from a junction with the SEPTA Main Line in Nicetown–Tioga, a neighborhood in Philadelphia, to Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia. The oldest part of it was built in 1832 by the Philadelphia, Germantown and Norristown Railroad.
The Germantown railway station has existed since at least 1884 when it could be found in the same place it is today on the Chestnut Hill East line. [2] It was on SEPTA's R7 line until the regional-rail renaming. On May 28, 2009, SEPTA approved a $1.9 million rehabilitation effort which included the Germantown station. [3]
The first section of it opened on June 7, 1832, from downtown to Germantown (now on the Chestnut Hill East Line). Later a new alignment was built to Norristown, leaving the old route from North Philadelphia to Germantown as a branch; this is now the Manayunk/Norristown Line.
