The four main divisions of the spinal column, from top to bottom: cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacral. The lateral grey column (lateral column, lateral cornu, lateral horn of spinal cord, intermediolateral column) is one of the three grey columns of the spinal cord (which give the shape of a butterfly); the others being the anterior and posterior grey columns.
The lateral horn (lateral protocerebrum) is one of the two areas of the insect brain where projection neurons of the antennal lobe send their axons. The other area is the mushroom body. Several morphological classes of neurons in the lateral horn receive olfactory information through the projection neurons. [1] [2] [3]
Lateral ventricles and horns The lateral ventricles connected to the third ventricle by the interventricular foramina. Each lateral ventricle takes the form of an elongated curve, with an additional anterior-facing continuation emerging inferiorly from a point near the posterior end of the curve; the junction is known as the trigone of the lateral ventricle.
Spinal lamina V, the neck of the posterior horn [9] Spinal lamina VI, the base of the posterior horn. The other four laminae are located in the other two grey columns in the spinal cord. The function of the spinal dorsal horn is to process and integrate sensory information from the peripheral nervous system.
The third memory trace is the reduction of activity of the anterior-paired lateral neuron, which acts as a memory formation suppressor through one of its inhibitory GABAergic receptors. Decrease in calcium response of APL neurons and subsequent decrease in GABA release onto the mushroom bodies persisted up to 5 minutes after odor conditioning.
The general rule of interaction of the nerve fibers in the sympathetic nervous system begins at the spinal cord. Here they arise from the thoracolumbar (T1–L2) regions' lateral horn of grey and emerge via the ventral root. They enter their respective spinal nerve (e.g. T5), and thus enter the white ramus communicans. This myelinated division ...

Coronal section of inferior horn of lateral ventricle. Fimbria labeled at center left and alveus to the right. Fimbria-fornix fibers are the hippocampal and subicular gateway to and from subcortical brain regions. [10] [11] Different parts of this system are given different names:
