    www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/best-bullet-weight-223-with-1-9-twist.845078

I have had good luck with both 68 gr. and 75 gr. BTHP Hornady Match bullets loaded over 23.0 gr. of Ramshot TAC powder. I shoot mostly 100 - 300yds and can regularily get .5" groups at 100yds, 1" groups at 200 yds and have a best of a 7/8" group at 300 yds.

  3. Best powder (s) for 7.62x39 - The High Road

Toprudder, my Savage model 10 in 7.62x39 also has a .308 barrel and it shoots the .310 steel-cased stuff like a champ. Sub-MOA with steel-case .310 Hornady 123-grain SST's in fact. I figured I'd be loading .308 bullets for it until I shot some .310's. Then I quicky realized it wasn't broke, so I'm not gonna fix it.

  4. off brand .22 cal bullets 62 grain fmjbt - questions

If it proves out, I would guess one would be wise to stock up on Z-Max before Hornady gets the word that people are now aware of the difference(s). I can see why Hornady would have a reason for coming out with the Z-Max when they did, because of the Zombie craze at the time. I recently saw some actual chronograph results showing velocity ...

  5. .357 Mag with H110/296 and 180 gr XTP | The High Road

    www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/357-mag-with-h110-296-and-180-gr-xtp.822435

Jun 6, 2017. #1. I'm going to load some .357 Mag with XTPs over H110 for my 686+, but I'm finding inconsistent data. The first place I looked was Hodgdon's website. Hodgdon only has 180 gr data for the Nosler Partition, but they seat it to 1.575" and the powder range is 13.0 – 13.5 gr. I checked my Hornady 9th ed manual and they list a COAL ...

  6. 7mm-08 powder choice | The High Road

    www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/7mm-08-powder-choice.826209

Interesting that other favorite cartridges (.308 Win, 6.5x55, .243 Win with light bullets, 22-250 AI) prefer IMR-4064 over Varget, but the 7mm-08's that I loaded for had a definite preference for Varget. We loaded with 139 gr Hornady spire points and 140 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips.

  7. Hornady rebate bullets | The High Road

I bought a new Hornady L&L press an a 9mm die set and filled out the free bullet rebate form. I had read on the form and different websites that it would take 8-10 weeks to see my bullets. I mailed the forms along with money orders on Nov. 9th. I recieved my bullets today. Less than 2 weeks. I...

  8. 338 federal bullets - The High Road

    www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/338-federal-bullets.829147

Top speed capability with a 250gr bullet is about 2,300fps with a 24"bbl. most have 22" or shorter barrels, hence perhaps 2,200fps m/v. Most 250gr .338" bullets are intended for the .338winmag, at 2,500fps m/v. With a 250, the .338Fed would be limited to about 150-200yds for reliable expansion.

  9. Reasons for 124 gr vs 115 gr in 9mm | The High Road

    www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/reasons-for-124-gr-vs-115-gr-in-9mm.830795

Jan 6, 2018. #2. I shot 115 Gr for years because they were the cheapest. Then I tried 124/5s and decided I liked them better. Purely subjective IMHO, but for me a 124/5 at a leisurely 1050ish was accurate, pleasant to shoot and tossed the brass nearby. Nothing in the world wrong with 115 gr 9MM bullets.

  10. Ammo brand and grain really does affect impact and groupings

    www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/ammo-brand-and-grain-really-does-affect...

Sep 24, 2018. #6. Even among premium factory loadings of the same weight and similar bullet design there can be a huge difference. I get 3" groups from my Howa .223 with Hornady match ammo but it will consistently hold under 1" with Federal GMM of the same 73gn weight. And these are always 5 shot groups.
