Gold Hill, also known as Goldhill, Gold Mine, or Gold Ridge, is an unincorporated community north-centrally located in Lee County, Alabama, United States, just a few hundred feet south of the Chambers County line. It is part of the Columbus, Georgia-Alabama Metropolitan Area. Today, Gold Hill lies mostly in the corporate limits of Auburn.
Sawyerville, previously known as Sawyers Depot, is an unincorporated community in west-central Hale County, Alabama and is a part of the Tuscaloosa metropolitan area. [2] It derives its name from the town's first post master. The community is rural and came to flourish due to its proximity to the railroad that once traveled through it.
The road continued south of US 90 as Baldwin County Route 27 (CR 27) and served many rural areas and local interests in SW Baldwin County. In July 2004, a road exchange occurred: the road extended south from US 90 to US 98, replacing part of CR 27, and Alabama State Route 112 was decommissioned and redesignated as Baldwin County Route 112. Sawyer AFB when Strategic Air Command implemented the Objective Wing organization, and assumed operational responsibility for a B-52 Stratofortress squadron and assigned KC-135 tankers. Aircraft carried Tail Code "KI" after 1992.
