Catriona MacColl (born 3 October 1954) is an English actress who has worked extensively in both film and television across Europe. She is best known for her work in Italian horror films, as she has appeared in Lucio Fulci's Gates of Hell trilogy; City of the Living Dead (1980), The Beyond (1981) and The House by the Cemetery (1981).
It stars Christopher George, Catriona MacColl, Carlo de Mejo, Antonella Interlenghi, Giovanni Lombardo Radice, and Janet Agren. The film follows a priest whose suicide opens a gateway to hell that releases the undead. A psychic and a reporter team up to close it before All Saints' Day.
The film was not a commercial success, [5] and Catriona MacColl's portrayal of Oscar, in particular, was criticized. [6] Conversely, Variety described the film as recalling early Hollywood epics, and praised McColl's depiction of Oscar as a "woman waiting to burst out of a man's clothing". [7]
