In 1889, C. R. Moore donated 10 acres (4.0 ha) of land and the school was moved to the site, and occupied a frame building (the same location of present-day Gibsland-Coleman High School). [2] In 1908, a brick school building was created. [2] Coleman College at its peak owned some 100 acres (40 ha), of which ten were devoted to educational purposes.

The Arcadia Colored High School Historic District was listed as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014. It included four contributing buildings , one of which is somewhat Modern Movement in style, but which are otherwise nondescript architecturally.
In 1946, archery was added as an athletic program for girls at the school. [7] On November 7, 1957, a tornado three blocks away from the school caused a power failure during a performance of Madame Butterfly. The performance was canceled. Nobody was injured. [8] In 2019 a Career and Tech Center were added and a conservatory planned. [9]
