Keezhadi, or Keeladi, is a Sangam period settlement site, where excavation are carried out by the Archaeological Survey of India and the Tamil Nadu State Department of Archaeology. [ 1 ] [ 2 ] This site is located near the town of Keezhadi in Sivaganga district , Tamil Nadu , about 12 km southeast of Madurai .
Tells are most commonly associated with the archaeology of the ancient Near East, but they are also found elsewhere, such as Central Asia, Eastern Europe, [3] West Africa [4] and Greece. [ 5 ] [ 6 ] Within the Near East, they are concentrated in less arid regions, including Upper Mesopotamia , the Southern Levant , Anatolia and Iran .
