Fort Valley State University (FVSU, formerly Fort Valley State College and Fort Valley Normal and Industrial School) is a public land-grant historically black university in Fort Valley, Georgia. It is part of the University System of Georgia and a member-school of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund .
The 1947 Fort Valley State Wildcats football team was an American football team that represented Fort Valley State College in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) during the 1947 college football season. Led by head coach Richard Craig, the team compiled a 7–0–1 record in eight regular season games. [2]

1941 – Fort Valley State College (now Fort Valley State University) joined the SIAC in the 1941–42 academic year. 1947 – Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical College (now Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University) and Allen University joined the SIAC in the 1947–48 academic year.
