In the 1950s, when the cumulative toll of pollution was at its worst, the Trent River Board stated that "in the Stoke-on-Trent area, reaches of the Trent and the Fowlea brook were considered to be a potential danger to public health". [8] The brook was then the most heavily polluted stream in the Potteries, and devoid of any fish. [9]
The trail connects the accessible and popular outdoor destinations of Lyme Park, White Nancy, Tegg's Nose and The Cloud, and the high sections of the trail are all notable for gritstone scenery and extensive views over the Cheshire Plain. Biddulph Moor is a village located on the hill which bears the same name. It is in Biddulph parish and is a part of the Staffordshire Moorlands district in England.It is very similar to Mow Cop which is located on the other side of the valley of Biddulph.
