The Raccoon River Conference is a nine team high school athletic league in central Iowa.Made up of mid-sized school districts located mostly west of Des Moines, all schools in the conference are currently 3A schools, the second largest class of schools in Iowa.
The following is a list of schools that participate in NCAA Division I softball, according to NCAA.com. [1] These teams compete to go to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Devon Park for the Women's College World Series. (For schools whose athletic branding does not directly correspond with the school name, the athletic branding is in parentheses.)
The Wildcats led the NCAA in attendance from 2000 to 2002, and from 2006 to 2008. On January 29, 2022, the university announced that, following Candrea's retirement and in agreement with the Hillenbrand family, Candrea's name would be added to the name of the stadium to honor his career.
