Richland Township is a civil township of Saginaw County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The 2020 Census placed the population at 3,955, [ 3 ] which is a decrease from the 4,144 residents recorded at the 2010 Census .

Richland Township is one of nine townships in Whitley County, Indiana, United States. As of the 2020 census , its population was 1,786 (up from 1,758 at the 2010 census [ 3 ] ) and it contained 702 housing units.
The Richland Township Fire Department was established in 1970. The fire department is dispatched from the Madison County Central Dispatch located in Anderson. The department is addressed on the radio as "Station 40". The Richland Township Volunteer has had one line-of-duty death, in the 1980s; Donald Lindzy.
The office closed on November 30, 1877, but re-opened on January 2, 1878. [6] The Vestaburg post office, with ZIP code 48891, serves most of Richland Township, as well as a small portion of Home Township to the west, as well as portions of townships to the south and west. [7]

The township is in northern Kalamazoo County and is bordered to the north by Barry County.It is 8 miles (13 km) northeast of Kalamazoo, the county seat.According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 36.2 square miles (93.7 km 2), of which 34.4 square miles (89.2 km 2) are land and 1.7 square miles (4.5 km 2), or 4.84%, are water.
