Yuji moves into the school and is mentored in Jujutsu personally by Satoru. He quickly strikes up a friendship with his fellow first-years, Megumi and Nobara Kugisaki. He dies during an altercation with a "Cursed Womb" at a detention facility, wherein Sukuna blackmailed Yuji by holding his heart hostage, but is later brought back to life by Sukuna.
During the Sister School Event, he defeats and bonds with Mechamaru. After grieving the death of his creator, Masamichi Yaga, Panda joins the Culling Games with Yuji and Megumi in the effort to stop it. Panda engages in a battle with Hajime Kashimo, a resurrected sorcerer from the Heian era, who manages to defeat all of his cores.
Yuji and Nobara are infected by the cursed womb brothers' Decay technique that will rot their bodies away in minutes. Before her first official match, Nobara learns her sister Soka has been forced to go on a date with a politician's son. Soka calls Nobara two hours before the girls' volleyball team's first game and she runs to Soka's aid. Following Soka's rescue, she witnesses Nobara play volleyball and sees how truly happy Nobara is while playing.
