Deadwood is a ghost town in British Columbia. Deadwood existed in 1897 and was located several miles west of Greenwood, between Grand Forks and Osoyoos. [1] [2] A number of copper claims in the area gave rise to Deadwood. The copper claims include Big Ledge, Eagle, Butte City, Spoiled Horse, and Mother Lode.
In 2004, two 30-foot (9.1 m) totem poles were installed to mark the 100th anniversary, and The Gardens were designated as a national historic site. Ownership of The Gardens remains within the Butchart family; the owner and managing director since 2001 is the Butcharts' great-granddaughter Robin-Lee Clarke.
Deadman Island is a 3.8 ha island to the south of Stanley Park in Coal Harbour in Vancouver, British Columbia. The indigenous Squamish name is " skwtsa7s ", meaning simply "island." Officially designated Deadman Island by the Geographical Names Board of Canada in 1937, [ 1 ] it is commonly referred to as Deadman's Island.
The museum was a gift to the city of Deadwood and it remains city property to this day. Among the exhibits are the J.B. Haggin Locomotive, the Thoen Stone, and Potato Creek Johnny's Gold Nugget. It is located at 54 Sherman Street. The museum was ranked number 3 among True West Magazine's 2009 Top 10 Western Museums. [2]

There are indoor and outdoor exhibits spread over a 100-acre (40 ha) site, including operating steam and gas rail equipment plus logging trucks. There are forest and nature trails, picnic area, playground, gift shop and a concession. At the Centre visitors can explore a reconstructed logging camp, forest fire lookout tower and the ranger's station.
