In June 2021, Westwood signed a Dragons academy contract, and was allocated to Ebbw Vale RFC for the 2021–22 Indigo Group Premiership. [3] [4] In 2023, Westwood made his debut for Newport RFC. [5] Westwood also attended Cardiff Metropolitan University, and played for their rugby team in the BUCS Super Rugby league. [6]
Newport finished the 2021–22 Indigo Group Premiership in second place, having sat the top of table of most of the season. They did, however, win the Premiership Cup with a 25–21 victory over Aberavon at the Millennium Stadium.
The team were knocked out of the cup by Newport but finished top of the Welsh Premier Division to become champions. In 2023 the club once again won the WRU Premiership Cup, defeating arch rivals Newport 13-10 and finishing top of the Welsh Premiership table, being denied the title by losing in a playoff final to Llandovery.
