Bad Medicine Lake is a spring-fed lake located in Forest Township in Becker County, Minnesota.It got its name from the fact that early Native Americans in the area thought that a lake with neither inlet nor outlet was a place of bad omen ("bad medicine") and would not hunt or fish near the lake.

The Norway Conference Center was added in 1984, the Pines Golf Course in 1990, the Preserve Golf Course in 1996, the Glacial Waters Spa in 2002, and the Gull Lake Center in 2009. The Grand View Lodge hosted the Minnesota Governor's Fishing Opener in 1976 and 2014. [2]
Banning State Park's drive-in campground has 33 sites (11 with electrical hookups), a camper cabin, and showers. There are four canoe campsites spaced along the river. Banning State Park staff also manage a campground within nearby General C. C. Andrews State Forest that boasts 38 drive-in sites, 2 walk-in sites, and a group tent camp. [2]
There are three seasonal resorts on the lake - Woodlawn Resort, [7] Madsen's Resort, [8] and Holiday Haven Resort & Campground. [9] In a 2000 lake survey 133 seasonal cabins and year-round homes on the north shore of the lake were counted. [2] The south shore, which is part of Glendalough State Park, has never been developed.
