The Niles Film Museum in 2012. The Niles Essanay Silent Film Museum is located in what is now the Niles district in the city of Fremont, California. The museum is housed in the Edison Theater building, a century-old Nickelodeon movie theater, just half a block from the former site of the Niles Essanay Studios [1] where Broncho Billy and Charlie Chaplin made films in the 1910s.
The Barrymore Film Center is a publicly owned, non-profit film history museum and archive, with a 260-seat cinema and repertory theater, in Fort Lee, New Jersey. The BFC is dedicated to the role of the town as the birthplace of American cinema. It is named for the Barrymore family, members of whom lived in and worked in the borough.
The museum originally opened in 1988 as the American Museum of the Moving Image, and in 1996, opened its permanent exhibition, "Behind the Screen," designed by Ali Höcek of AC Höcek Architecture LLC. The museum began a $67 million expansion in March 2008 and reopened in January 2011. [2] The expansion was designed by architect Thomas Leeser. [3]
