Miami Vice is an American crime drama television series created by Anthony Yerkovich and produced by Michael Mann for NBC. Philip Michael Thomas (born May 26, 1949) is a retired American actor and musician, best known for his role as detective Ricardo Tubbs on the hit 1980s TV series Miami Vice. His first notable roles were in Coonskin (1975) and opposite Irene Cara in the 1976 film Sparkle .
Tubbs made his first appearance in the show's pilot episode, "Brother's Keeper", and later went on to appear in all but one of the show's 111 episodes.
