R-410A is a refrigerant used in air conditioning and heat pump applications. It is a zeotropic but near-azeotropic mixture of difluoromethane (CH 2 F 2, called R-32) and pentafluoroethane (CHF 2 CF 3, called R-125). R-410A is sold under the trademarked names AZ-20, EcoFluor R410, Forane 410A, Genetron R410A, Puron, and Suva 410A.
The energy efficiency and system capacity of systems designed for R-22 is slightly greater using R-22 than the available substitutes. [11] R-407A is for use in low- and medium-temp refrigeration. Uses a polyolester (POE) oil. R-407C is for use in air conditioning. Uses a minimum of 20 percent POE oil.
From early 2020 HFCs (including R-404A, R-134a and R-410A) are being superseded: Residential air-conditioning systems and heat pumps are increasingly using R-32. This still has a GWP of more than 600. Progressive devices use refrigerants with almost no climate impact, namely R-290 (propane), R-600a (isobutane) or R-1234yf (less flammable, in cars).
The phasing out of CFC and HCFC refrigerants (e.g., HCFC-22, also known as R22) due to global warming concerns has helped to spur innovations in cooling technologies. [23] [24] Natural refrigerants such as carbon dioxide and propane (), as well as R-410A, have become attractive replacements for air conditioning and refrigeration applications.
I have repaired the formula for HFC-125 there. Also it is not clear what th global warming potential of R-410A is at all, since it is a 50% mixture of HFC-32 and HFC-125 [1]. Accordingly the claim that "R410A has a high global warming potential (GWP) of 2088, higher than that of R-22 (GWP=1760), and an atmospheric lifetime spanning decades.
'Freon' is the brand name for the refrigerants R-12, R-13B1, R-22, R-410A, R-502, and R-503 manufactured by The Chemours Company, and so is not used to label all refrigerants of this type. They emit a strong smell similar to acetone . [ 2 ]
High Efficiency: Provides effective cooling with good energy efficiency. Environmentally Friendly: Does not deplete the ozone layer, making it a more sustainable option than its predecessors. Equipment Compatibility: Generally compatible with R22 system components, though some adjustments may be necessary for optimal performance.
A representative pressure–volume diagram for a refrigeration cycle. Vapour-compression refrigeration or vapor-compression refrigeration system (VCRS), [1] in which the refrigerant undergoes phase changes, is one of the many refrigeration cycles and is the most widely used method for air conditioning of buildings and automobiles.
