In April 2014, Honda began an upgraded model of Activa with a 125 cc (7.6 cu in) engine and rebranded the model as Activa 125. Currently, both Activa-i and Activa 125 are sold in India along with traditional Honda Activa. Honda began selling the Activa-i in India, a cheaper and lighter version of the Activa, in December 2013.

It has a four-stroke 109 cc (6.7 cu in) single-cylinder engine, HET air-cooled engine (the same as in the Dio and the Activa) which produces 8 bhp at 7000 rpm and maximum torque of 8.77 Nm at 5500 rpm. Kinetic Engineering Limited is an Indian automotive manufacturer. The company was founded in the year 1972 by H. K. Firodia. Today it is an automotive component manufacturer which formerly sold two-wheelers under the brand names Kinetic Honda and later Kinetic Motors.
Kinetic Honda was a joint venture between Kinetic Engineering Limited, India and Honda Motor Company, Japan. Kinetic was the first company to have a joint venture with HMSI . The partnership operated from 1984 to 1998, manufacturing two-stroke scooters in India.
It was the first scooter manufactured by Hero Honda, traditionally a motorcycle company, and was received very positively. As of 2013 [update] , it sold in the range of 40,000 units per month, and is second only to the Honda Activa in a rapidly growing scooter segment.
