The 2009 NCAA Rifle Championships were contested at the 30th annual NCAA-sanctioned competition to determine the team and individual national champions of co-ed collegiate rifle shooting in the United States. NIWFA title competition was held in addition to the AIAW championship from 1980 to 1982 and the NCAA women's championship from 1982 to 1989. Starting in 1990, the NCAA has sponsored a combined men's and women's team championship, declaring one overall combined champion. NIWFA membership in 2018 consisted of 20 schools.
The USF rifle team first competed in the NCAA Championship in the 1985–86 season. [2] Since so few schools sponsored rifle at the time, all teams that sponsored it were eligible for the championship. The Bulls finished tied for 5th out of the 7 teams that competed in the 1986 NCAA Championship.
