RTÉ News: Nine O'Clock is the nightly news programme broadcast each night on Irish television channel RTÉ One at 9:00pm. The bulletin airs until 9:25pm Monday to Friday and until 9:20pm on Saturday and Sunday. It is presented by Sharon Ní Bheoláin as a rotating anchor on the programme alongside Ray Kennedy.
Maurice O'Doherty (17 November 1932 – 5 April 1998) was an Irish broadcaster best known as a newsreader for RTÉ News from 1966 until 1983. [1] As a contemporary of Charles Mitchel the two men made the Nine O'Clock News the most watched news programme on Irish television.
An internal review within RTÉ also determined if the stations closure was imminent. Sharon Tobin (born 11 October 1979) is an Irish journalist and newsreader working for RTÉ, Ireland's national radio and television station, where she has co-presented the Six One News, alongside David McCullagh, since September 2023. In 2006 she began to present various other radio and television news bulletins for the national broadcaster and has presented all the main news bulletins including Six One, News on Two and Nine O'Clock since then. More recently, she presented a special live tribute to the writer and musician Maidhc Dainín Ó Sé following his death in 2013.
On 26 April 2014, RTÉ News got a new look for all of its news programmes across RTÉ Television, with a tweaked logo, new opening and closing titles, new graphics, new backdrop in Studio 3, and a new arrangement of the 9 February 2009 news music.
