Northwood High School is a public high school located in the northernmost part of Irvine, California, United States, in the Orchard Hills neighborhood. It opened in 1999, and its first graduating class graduated in 2002. In 2016, Northwood was ranked 25 nationally in Newsweek 's list of top public high schools. [2]
The school had approximately 1,400 students. This size has moved it from a division 2A school in Maryland High School athletics, to a division 3A school for the 2009–10 school year. [15] As of the 2024–25 school year, Northwood High School boasts over 1700 students from diverse backgrounds.
NorthWood High School's mascot is the panther, and its colors are red and black. The school competes in the Northern Lakes Conference [4] along with Concord, Goshen, Mishawaka, Northridge, Plymouth, Warsaw and Wawasee. NorthWood's football team was state champion in 2005.
